Impact and Research Assessment

How can you track your impact? For many years research impact was solely tracked by traditional metrics such as citations, but today it is important also to track societal impact.

Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts.

Albert Einstein

Impact is a recurrent theme in research.

As a researcher you often need to show if and how your research has an impact whether it is in academia or in society.

When we talk about impact, we talk about both:

  • Traditional impact metrics (meaured through quantitative metrics such as citations, journal metrics, H-index etc.)
  • Alternative metrics (meaured through quantitative metrics such as usage statistics, Social Media data etc.)
  • Societal impact

Registration of impact in Pure concerns both qualitative and quantitative recording of impact on society.

Below you find information about traditional impact metrics, alternative metrics, and societal impact.
